Buttock Augmentation (Buttock Implants, Gluteal Implants) View Photos

A firm round buttock has always been desirable, but now thanks to stars like Jennifer Lopez and Kim Kardashian, even bigger bottoms are considered sexy and sought after.    In addition to this; certain cultures, such as the increasing Hispanic and/or African American population, have always favored larger bottoms.

Making the buttocks larger is called “Buttock Augmentation or Butt Augmentation .”    This can be done using fat or an implant.   When we use fat, it is called a “Brazilian Butt lift” or “Fat transfer to the buttocks.”   If you are interested in using fat to enlarge your buttocks, then please look at the section on this website entitled “Brazilian Butt Lift.”

Buttock Implants (also called simply Butt Implants) are a commonly requested procedure.    Relatively few plastic surgeons actually perform butt implants.     Dr. Smith is an expert in this area and has placed many butt implants.   Because of his experience and expertise in this area, Dr. Smith has even been asked by the implant company to teach other surgeons how to do the procedure.

Just like we can enhance breasts with breast implants, we can achieve buttock augmentation with buttock implants.   Just as there are many sizes of breast implants, there are also many styles and sizes of buttock implants.  The exact style and shape Dr. Smith uses is tailored to the patient’s current buttock size and shape, and the patient’s wishes for how much augmentation he or she wishes to achieve.    Buttock implants are made of the same material as breast implants, medical grade silicone.   Since sexy buttocks are slightly more firm than breasts, the buttock implants are slightly more firm than the standard breast implants.  The implants can be placed through a small incision located in the intergluteal crease (the crease between the two buttock cheeks, commonly called the “butt crack”).  In this position the incision is well hidden and typically not noticeable.

The surgery only takes about 90 minutes.   After surgery patients usually spend about an hour in the recovery room and then return home.    Usually patients may return to work after a week, provided they do not do any heavy lifting at work and they promise to sit on a pillow for an additional week.   Dr. Smith also requests that patients sleep on their belly and not on their back for two weeks after surgery.   After about three weeks the patients may return to light exercise, and after six to eight weeks usually heavy lifting and more intense exercise is permitted.

There are several advantages of a buttock implant over a Brazilian Butt lift (fat transfer to buttocks.)   In general, a buttock implant is a slightly more reliable way to enlarge the buttocks and usually the change is larger with an implant than fat transfer.   The major disadvantage of buttock implantation is that we do place an implant and that usually another procedure will be needed sometime in the patient’s lifetime.    In general, the risks of buttock implantation are similar to those of breast implantation.

Buttock augmentation is one of the most popular procedures we perform with an extremely high satisfaction rate.   Dr. Smith is an expert in this area of surgery and has many satisfied buttock implant patients.   If you are considering this procedure; don’t hesitate to make a consultation with Dr. Smith.
